Economic Geography Video

In class we are starting the next unit which is economic geography. We are watching a movie called the Peoples Republic of China. China is being trained to compete in the marketing world. In China, the men make about three or four dollars a day. The women make about one or two dollars a day. A half of a million people in China work in the construction business. This one family in China makes about six hundred dollars a year and they chose to put their daughter in boarding school, which is half their pay check. In September 28, 2007, The Briggs company-where engines are made, in Missouri was shut down and built in China. So, the people in Missouri lost their job. A reason why they moved it to China so Asians could buy it and it would be inexpensive to make in China and for the United States to buy from them.
